Genomic effects of pollutant exposure and transformation in Methylobacterium extorquens
Dichloromethane (DCM, CH2Cl2) is a genotoxic organic solvent massively produced and released
into the environment by the industry. The bacterium Methylobacterium extorquens DM4, one of the
laboratory model organism, is capable of degrading DCM by using it as its sole carbon and energy
source. The exposure and transformation of DCM generates stresses to which M. extorquens DM4
must respond.
